Student Events
Inquire about our programs:
Performance is a valuable component of the educational process. When students are given frequent opportunities to perform in a supportive, friendly environment, they learn to overcome the anxiety that is often associated with performance. Their musical skills are strengthened in the process. In addition to the in-studio performing that regularly happens among fellow students throughout the year, a variety of competitions, recitals, festivals, and examinations are offered, through the various memberships and affiliations of the academy. These include:
- Junior Music Festival, sponsored by the National Federation of Music Clubs, which establishes graduated repertoire requirements for Pre-primary through Musically Advanced levels.
- Ensemble event that allows students to compete in duet, duo, trio, and quartet categories at all levels.
- A Concerto Competition that allows the winners to perform with a professional String Quartet.
- The Clavinova Festival that allows students to perform orchestra-style, with multiple players using different instrumental settings on digital keyboards.
- The Piano Play-a-thon which allows students to use their music skills to raise funds for the Ronald McDonald House Charities. Area music students have raised over $150,000 for this charity since the Play-a-thon was established in 1996.
- Seasonal Recitals at local book stores.
- Student Showcase Recitals at the Cincinnati Art Museum and the Aronoff Center for the Performing Arts.
- The National Music Certificate Program which offers an internationally renown and comprehensive curriculum of study.
- Academy Recitals at various times and locations, periodically broadcast for airing on the local community television station.
- All-Ohio Piano Ensemble, a three day event that takes place each year in June in Columbus, Ohio. Students prepare duet literature to perform in a monster concert setting with a large group of pianists at a given level.
